I was set to buy a different e-bike brand but viewing their return policy, it put all the liability of any defect on the customer. Calling other brands, they did the same thing.
Saw a few videos for Mod Bikes foldable e-bike and it really came off as the creator selecting parts and designing the bike according to how they would want a bike. Like seat cushion, shocks, the snap-on system for accessories. It's all well thought out. I made several calls with them before doing the purchase and did the virtual tor of it where they asked about my needs and what I'm going for, kind of like buying a new car. They sent the bike out REALLY quickly.
Only issue we had was the shipping protector for the front wheel area.I had to buy a deep socket for it and spent a long time figuring out how to get it off (instructions said it had a quick release but the protector was bolted on without a plastic separator). The instructions can be more detailed with colored images, and updated videos but at the same time it seems the bike is being updated constantly, so I'm not sure how that can be resolved. Folding it is hard to get used to but I'm getting the hang of it.
The ride is great. It's comfortable, powerful, and safe for my kid to ride in the back, looks cool, nothing cheap. The seat they have is the best option available and it's specifically for their bike (comes with the handle bars and covers the side parts of the seat). Again everything is highly considered and well thought out.
Mod Bikes obviously created a bike that they would ride themselves. The only points off is that the wiring seems pretty tight which I think makes folding a bit stiff (folding the handle stem area, it's hard to unlatch sometimes too). I also had to detach a cable that was zip tied to install their passenger foot rest. It has nothing to do with the actual riding of the bike and I feel like I chose the best folding e-bike on the market.
