MOD Easy 3

I own several e-bikes but none of them allowed me to take my dog along with me, so I was excited to read an article recently about MOD Bikes that offered a sidecar. I assembled it today and am still making adjustments to make it just right, but so far I’m impressed with the Sahara. One thing to note is that your right foot may easily come into contact with the side plate and other mounting hardware which will require different foot / shoe placement from what you’re used to.

I wanted to start riding a bike again for a number of reasons - getting outside, exercise and recreation, and adventuring on the miles of bike paths where I live. But I needed stability, and I wanted to be able to take my 12-pound dog with me. When I started seeing e-bikes with sidecars online, I Googled my options. Mod-Bikes was one of the early options, and it quickly became the clear that it was exactly what I was looking for.

I love - LOVE - the Virtual Demo. Jeremy answered every question, and anticipated everything I might need/want to know about the bike. I had considered a trip to Austin to see the bike in person, but the Virtual Demo made that unnecessary. Add to Cart! Done.

The bike and sidecar were shipped the next day, and the communication from both Mod-Bikes and the shipping company was excellent. Mod-Bikes also suggested several people/companies for assembly, and that worked out beautifully. From scheduling to the price, Justin did an outstanding job assembling my bike.

After a few rides, I had questions, and once again, Mod-Bikes came through. I sent an e-mail and Marco responded with a phone call. It had been years since I had ridden regularly, and this was my first e-bike, but Marco allayed any “worries”, and assured me that I was doing fine with the “learning curve”. The YouTube videos also helped.

The bike is heavier than “regular” bikes, and the sidecar does affect the way it handles. But after checking the tire pressure and logging more miles, I can’t quite believe how much fun I’m having. Where has this been all my life?!? Even my brother, a bike-guy since his early teens, was very impressed with the Mod Easy 3.

And most importantly, Mikey loves it! Per the recommendation of Mod-Bikes, I did add a bit of weight to the sidecar. I also added a foam pad to the bottom so that he could sit or stand. The four rings on the edges make it easy to keep him securely tethered in the sidecar as his preferred riding position is standing with this paws on the front edge. (He also likes to bark at every dog we pass.)

I’m asked frequently about the bike and sidecar… where I got it, how does it ride, etc. Recommending Mod-Bikes is easily and happily done - from the quality of the Mod Easy 3 to the outstanding Customer Support, every part of this experience has been exceptional.

We’re currently under snow and -30C up here in Canada. Only got to put about 50kms on my bike between assembly in late fall and freeze-up. So far I’m very pleased with everything about it … should be back riding by around April/May next year … will be better able to provide intelligent comments then.
