First off I’m 5’3” with 28” inseam so I never intend to ride this bike without the side car attached (it would be way too much machine for me to handle). FedEx did a little bit of damage to the bike box, but it was so well packaged that the bike suffered no damage.
Assembly - All the tools you need are provided, but I do recommend using a ratchet to install the side plate. My mistakes include front fender backwards, handle bars backwards, long u-bolt closest to peddle rotation. All easily corrected.
Adjustments - when leveling the bike using side plate arm I didn’t take into account the road runoff curvature. Once I adjusted so the bike angled toward the side car just a little before hitting the road, the ride was better.
My first couple of miles were without weight in the side car (also the bike wasn’t leveled good) - that was a trip. I suggest everyone at least try it once and if you do watch out for parked cars and speed bumps besides right hand turns. Once I picked up 2 cubic feet of soil for side car ( and adjusted the level) - the ride was fantastic. They do advise you to put weight in the side car but because of my personality I needed to experience it.
This bike is for my husky mix. He is 85#. I”m doing the slow introduction. He has gotten into the side car 4 times so far (there is room for him to stand and sit). I scooter him in the mornings for exercise and my intention for this bike is for afternoon adventures where he can kick back (I don’t think he is able to lay down so distance of rides will depend on his tolerance).
Unfortunately once I got all the kinks out of my biking performance the wether here turned very hot (70 lows and over 100 for the highs), so maybe in a couple of days after the weather turns I’ll revise this review to include my pups response to the ride. Don’t want heat to play a factor in his first experience. Right now, for him, the sidecar is an entry and exit task that results in treats.
